I delight to do your will, O my God; yes, Your law is within my heart.
Psalm 40:8
If we want to hear God’s voice and obey His will, I believe our prayer every morning should be something like this:
“God, I want to walk in Your perfect will all my life. I don’t want Your permissive will; I don’t want to do anything without Your approval and blessing. If I try to do something that’s not Your best for me, please let me feel hesitation in my heart, a check in my spirit, to keep me on the path of Your plan.
Help me to submit myself to You.
Help me not to be stiff-necked.
Help me not to be stubborn.
Help me not to be hard-hearted.
God, I want Your will to operate fully in my life. I’ve experienced the fruit of my own will enough to know that if I get my way, and it’s not what You want, it’s going to turn out badly. I’m willing to obey You, but please help me to hear clearly what You are telling me to do. Amen.”
GOD’S WORD FOR YOU TODAY: Several times each day, whisper to God, “ Your will be done.”

Become a Student of the Word
Welcome the Word which implanted and rooted [in your heart] contains the power to save your souls.
(James 1:21)
Sometimes God transcends the laws of nature and speaks to us through supernatural revelation. There is nothing more supernatural than the Word of God, which is given to us by divine inspiration of the Holy Spirit speaking through His prophets and disciples. The Bible has an answer for every question we might ever have. Anyone who wants to hear God's voice must be a student of the Word. Of all the other ways that God may speak to us, He will never contradict the written Word.
If we think we can hear clearly from God without spending time in the Word, we are mistaken. Listening for God's voice without being dedicated to spending time in the Word on a regular basis opens us up to hearing voices that are not from God. Knowing the written Word protects us from deception. Some people only come to God when they are in trouble and need help. But if they are not used to hearing from God, they will find it difficult to recognize His voice when they really need Him.
Ever Jesus resisted Satan's lies by answering, "It is written" (see LUKE 4). Any idea, or prompting, or thought that comes to us needs to be compared to the Word of God. All vain imaginations are to be cast down and ignored (see 2 CORINTHIANS 10:5), but knowledge of the Word is of vital importance in discerning the voice of God.

Confidence, not condemnation
Whenever our hearts in [tormenting] self-accusation make us feel guilty and condemn us. [For we are in God's hands.] For He is above and greater than our consciences (our hearts), and He knows (perceives and understands) everything [nothing is hidden from Him].
And, beloved, if our consciences (our hearts) do not accuse us [if they do not make us feel guilty and condemn us], we have confidence (complete assurance and boldness) before God,
And we receive from Him whatever we ask, because we [watchfully] obey His orders [observe His suggestions and injunctions, follow His plan for us] and [habitually] practice what is pleasing to Him.
And this is His order (His command, His injunction): that we should believe in (put our faith and trust in and adhere to and rely on) the name of His Son Jesus Christ (the Messiah), and that we should love one another just as He has commanded us.
All who keep His commandments [who obey His orders and follow His plan, live and continue to live , to stay and ] abide in Him, and He in them. [They let Christ be a home to them and they are the home of Christ.] And by this we know and understand and have the proof that He [really] lives and makes His home in us: by the [Holy] Spirit Whom He has given us.
(1 John 3:20-24)
First John 3:20,21 speaks to us about condemnation in our hearts. A condemned heart steals confidence. Anyone who wants to be a victorious Christian must learn to handle condemnation. When he sins, he needs to know how to shake it off and quickly go on because no one is perfect. He may have a perfect heart, a heart that genuinely loves and seeks to please God, but he still will not be prefect in every thought, word, and deed.
I know how condemning it is to teach others about what is right and then foul up in that very area. When we do things like that, we feel a double dose of condemnation because the devil says to us, "You of all people ought to know better." If we listen to him, he will make us feel that we are not worthy of God's love.
We must be able to shake off feelings of condemnation. If we can not, we will have no confidence before God. Without confidence, our faith will not work. And without faith, we cannot please God or receive from Him the things we need in order to do what He has called us to do.
That is why Proverbs 4:23 teaches us to guard our hearts with all diligence and reminds us that the issues of life flow out of our hearts.
God convicts us of our wrongdoing; He does not condemn us. Conviction helps us repent and be lifted out of our problems; condemnation only pushes us down and makes us feel bad about ourselves.
Romans 8:33,34 tells us that God justifies us; He does not bring charges against us. Jesus does not condemn us. He died for us. He sits at the Father's right hand, actually pleading in intercession for us (see Romans 8:34). I have learned from this scripture that when I feel condemned, I either do it to myself or the devil does it to me. Always submit to God's conviction, but resist Satan's condemnation.

Simple Obedience
Oh, that they had such a [mind and] heart in them always [reverently] to fear Me and keep all My commandments, that it might go well with them and with their children forever!
Deuteronomy 5:29
If we will simply listen to the Lord and do what He says, things will go well for us. Most people have no idea how simple it is sometimes to relieve stress, and Satan works to keep it that way! He works to complicate people's lives in every imaginable way because he knows the power and joy simplicity brings.
Satan wants to exhaust the energies God has given us by keeping us too busy and stressed out trying to handle all the things complicating our lives. He know that if we learn to simply obey God, we will turn that power and energy against him by hearing and doing the work God directs!
The transformations many people desire in different areas of their lives come through forming a pattern of obeying God in the little things. He may ask you to come away and visit with Him for half an hour or an evening instead of watching television, going to a party, or talking on the phone. The more consistent you are in keeping yourself still enough to hear His voice and then obey His promptings, the sooner the needed work will be done in you for the transformation to be complete. God uses our obedience in the little things to transform our lives.
No matter what the situation, listen to the Lord and obey. Proverbs 3:6 states, "In all your way know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths" You may not understand the reasons the Lord asks you to do certain things or see any changes or results immediately, but keep obeying the Lord and things will go well with you and your children.

Run to God, Not Away from Him
Meditating on all of our faults and failures weakens us, but medicating on God's grace and willingness to forgive strengthens us. Our relationship and fellowship are to be with God, not with our sins, failures, mistakes, and weaknesses? Whatever amount of time it is, it is wasted. When you sin, admit it, ask for forgiveness, and then continue your fellowship with God. The scipture above says we are alive to God, living in unbroken fellowship with Him. Don't let your sins come between you and the Lord. Even when you sin, God still wants to spend time with you, hear and answer your prayers, and help you with all of your needs. He wants you to run to Him, not away from Him!

Life Point
I want to encourage you to keep your eyes off of yourself and the things that distract you. Instead, focus firmly on Jesus and His power (see Hebrews 12:2). He already knows your troubles. He is ready, willing, and able to bring about the changes that need to be made in you and in your life. He will bring you to maturity and perfection, if you will just ask Him and trust Him to do so. You can count on God; He is the Source of your faith and its Finisher.
